Final Projects 15th April 2018

What I've Done this week:

 Portfolio:

  • Figure Drawings.
  • Digitally coloured one of my portrait sketches.
  • digitally coloured my character sketches.
  • Digitally coloured my sketch of the Faraway Tree, based on Enid Blyton's Book.
  • Created and finalised content for my portfolio book.
  • Filled out the pages of my portfolio book, ready to be checked over and revised if needed.

Work based Learning:

  • Supervised over the creation of my 'Tangled Tales' piece for the Cheltenham Illustration Awards. Giving my Mother advice as she embroidered the piece, making sure she was working to the style and idea I had initially planned for the piece. She has now completed both brains and I am very happy with the outcomes.
  • I have researched local and national illustration companies, such as Atom Hawk, Handsome Frank, Folio Illustration Agency, and a few others.
  • Completed my work related presentation, including these companies, my research into some other competitions that I could possibly apply to, and analysis of my strengths, weaknesses and an action plan of how I could improve within my work.

PPD:

  • Designed a print for my possible business cards (which I believe I may also use on my portfolio book as well?)
  • Created information for my business card, including my name, profession, email and Instagram user name.
  • Researched local and national illustration companies, as well as more competitions that I could possibly enter in the future (linking with my Work Related Presentation)

Still to do:

  • Add images of my 'Tangled Tales' pieces into my portfolio book.
  • I have created an illustration which is a refinement of a sketch I had made in a previous project. At this current moment I have a painting and the line work on separate sheets of paper, so I need to scan them both in, combine them together in Photoshop, and possibly edit the colours more for digital use (if they have not translated well through the scan).
  • I will then also add this piece into my portfolio book.
  • Create the business card/book print using the risograph printer
  • Scan in the print (again editing the colours if they have not translated well through the scan)
  • Apply the print to both the cards and the book cover.
  • Review the book layout and make any changes if needed.
  • Once I have the all clear for both the book and the business cards, I can send them off for printing. I believe I will be using VistaPrint to do this.
  • Start printing off work for my A2 portfolio.
  • Go through and highlight my skills and weaknesses within the skillset jobs I had printed off.
  • Carry on updating my blog.
  • Type up a written commentary of my portfolio, describing the skills, purpose, audience and my own critique on each piece of work I include.
  • Create Evaluations - Four for the Work Based Learning (one for each live brief I have worked with). One evaluation based on my portfolio work. And I need to add all of the evaluations onto my blog as well.
My goal is to complete all of my practical work during this week, leaving the following week (the one before my class trip to Berlin) all to be time spent on written/typed work. This will give me time to solely focus on writing detailed evaluations, and hopefully it will give me time to clean up and refine any place that may be lacking, before hand in when I return from Berlin.
